Greetings Mills Parents and Caregivers,
Please remember that communication is key – whether it is delivered via email, papers in a take-home folder, or as a Facebook post, it is essential that you know what's going on at Mills. We all have our favorite... but sometimes A LOT of information must fit into a single e-newsletter. Ditch the "Too Long; Didn't Read" habit for the "Good Info; Must Read" approach. Our Communications team of parent volunteers collects school news from Mills administrators, PTA Committees and teachers to create this Mills Messenger while also adding all school happenings to the calendar. This week we have a couple of new items to mention and a few reminders.
We also want to give a "heads up" that lice has been found in several grades. Lice love clean hair so it has nothing to do with hygiene; the only shame in getting lice is not telling other parents. Please educate yourself and check and comb your children's hair regularly with a fine toothed lice comb to stop lice from spreading.
Updates/Enrollment Deadline: September 16
Please sign up for the school directory! Before the directory is "active", each family will have the opportunity to add their child(ren), homeroom teacher, and contact information into the system. Only verified Mills families are granted access, and YOU control which information others can view. You must select "Opt-in" to be included in the online directory. For additional information, see the Directory section below or go to the Mills PTA Directory page.
Box Tops for Education & Free Money for Mills
Every CLIP and CLICK counts!!
Here are some EASY ways you can contribute to help keep Mills GRRRREAT!!
Mills Elementary is part of some amazing and very lucrative programs where we can earn FREE MONEY for our school! These are ways parents, family members, neighbors, and others in our Mills community may raise money for our school. Consider these as fundraisers that do not require you to go door to door, collect money or deliver products. Click here for more details on each of the programs.
Last year we earned $3500 from these programs! Let's shoot to make our new goal $5000 this year!
Box Tops for Education: Clip Box Tops from the packages of products that you already purchase – and BTFE will donate 10¢ for every valid Box Top submitted.
Amazon Associates: Shop through the banner on our Mills PTA homepage and earn up to 10% back for our school.
Randall's Good Neighbor Program: Add Mills #6981 to your Remarkable Card - fill out the Good Neighbor Program form and turn into the local Randall's Courtesy Desk.
Office Depot Give Back to Schools: Shop at Office Depot and tell them you're with Mills Elementary and they'll donate a 5% rebate on purchases any time.
Tyson Project A+: Clip Tyson Project A+ labels from packages of Tyson products and Mills will receive 24¢ for every submitted label.
TerraCycle: TerraCycle and Clif Bar have partnered to create a free recycling program for energy bar wrappers as well as a fundraising opportunity for participants. We accept foil-lined energy bar wrappers, granola bar wrappers and other types of bars that come in foil-lined packages. It comes out to be 1¢ per wrapper so toss these wrappers in the designated containers around school.
Your Employer: Check with your employer who may have a program that matches your straight donation or an incentive for volunteering where they donate funds to our school for time that you gave.
