Dear Mills Families,

One more sleep until we jump into the 2017-2018 school year has officially begun. Run through the checklist - backpack, water bottle, snack, lunch (or lunch money), that perfect outfit and photo props – now we are ready for the big day. Some may even need to add tissues for tears (or cheers) if your little one is heading off to school for the first time or if it is your 5th grader’s last ‘first day’ of elementary at Mills. Tomorrow, August 21, is the day we get to sit in our classrooms, get to know our teachers, meet our classmates, and let the learning begin. We want to welcome each and every one of you. We are very proud of our school, our students, our staff, and our community.

Here a few reminders and topics of interest:

Drop-off and Pick-up procedures – Please see Mrs. Beachum’s email that she sent out this past Wednesday with details specifically for Monday as well as for the rest of the week (normal schedule).

Boohoo/Yahoo – Tomorrow starting 7:45am (following drop-off). Mostly an informal gathering with our Mills counselors and principal. We invite Kindergarten parents/guardians and all new families to Mills to join us for refreshments and informative conversation.

Back to School Nights – These information sessions are only for parents.

  • Tuesday, August 29: Kinder (5:30); 1st grade (6:00), 2nd grade (6:30)
  • Thursday, August 31: 3rd grade (5:30), 4th grade (6:00), 5th grade (6:30)

Online School Directory – For returning families who were in last year's directory, watch for an email to update and verify your information. For new families, a sign-up link will be included in the Mills Messenger soon as well!.

Join Mills PTA – Parents + Teachers + All of us make up this Mills Community. Join other Mills families, staff and community leaders to show your support for Mills, our teachers and all of our Mountain Lions. Check out the webpage for more information. Girl Scouts Recruitment Rally – August 26th (1:30-3:00pm) Oakhill United Methodist Church.
Girls may start at any age (5 and up) and can join anytime of year. There also may be existing troops that you may join as well.

Boy Scouts Recruitment Night – August 30th (6:30-7:30) Pack 61 information – Mills Cafeteria & Black Top

September PTA Association Meeting – All members who have paid dues this school year and interested parties are invited to this meeting tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, September 6th @ 6:00pm in Mills Cafeteria. You may also join PTA at this. We will vote on the budget, discuss our goals for the 2017-2018 school year, and learn more about the school bond up for election.

Mills Carnival – Saturday, September 30th (11:00-3:00) – Save the date! More details to follow.
