PTA Message

Dear Mills community,

Wow, words escape me, what a fabulous festival! And, even though we had to shift around some of our attractions because of the high winds, the weather held up and it turned out to be a beautiful day for a wizard of a festival. Oh, and did ya'll see those awesome decorations around the school? So many talented parents at Mills and thank your Ms. Garcia for our sponsor wall ~ super cool!

To pull off such a fantastic event for our Mills families, takes a great group of people and I'd like to take a moment to recognize my outstanding parent festival coordinators who put in countess hours over the last few months to ensure that everything ran smoothly on Saturday:

  • Candace Goerlich & her team of volunteers (Wristbands sales & financials)
  • Neha Bhakta (Concessions)
  • Kate Bahner & her team (Wizard of Art Booth)
  • Jeff Crunk (Kid Bids)
  • Liz Branch (Food Vendors)
  • Alicia Henderson (Volunteer Signups)
  • Jessica Riggs (Festival Contest)
  • Sylvia Laughlin & her team (Decorating & Marketing)
  • Courtney Yaklin (Prize Toy Collections)
  • Sharon Crunk (Cake Walk & Contests)
  • Chris Farrow (Web Administration)
  • Sarah Jones (Scouts Box Maze)
  • Ray Pena (Photography)

Plus, the many, many volunteers who helped decorate our school into Oz land, or made signs, or brought refreshments, or sold tickets, counted money, set up tables & chairs, volunteered at the stations the day of the festival and parents who brought in supplies and concession items...there are so many of you and you truly helped to make this a delightful and successful event, THANK YOU! And to our spouses who helped or had our backs with feeding the kids and getting them dinner those nights we were meeting.... we love & appreciate who you are, thank you for being there for us too!!

We would also like to remind parents to support our sponsors and let them know how much we appreciate them, so thank you to sponsors and vendors who donated to this year's festival:

And, finally to all of you who attended ... we were so pleased that you could join us and we are very grateful for your support!!! Let us know if you're interested in helping out for our next big event in spring, the adult only Spring Silent Auction! Please contact either myself or Adam Wetherington at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

On another note what has me excited about our festival, aside from the wonderful entertainment and community building atmosphere it provides, is the support it generates for our school. It's your support that makes it possible for us to fund the many improvements for Mills and educational materials for our children. Now that we have funds to work with, (and the final festival budget should be prepared to share at our next PTA meeting) we need engaged parent volunteers to review recommended proposals for this years projects, if you're interested in helping please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
