UNDERGOING A FACELIFT - Please be patient with us as we work to update your Mills PTA site.

Robotics Club

This 2016-2017 school year, Mills will have a year-round parent-run robotics club. 2nd and 3rd grade will meet on Thursdays from 2:57PM-4:15PM.

Student eligibility requires that a parent or adult be available to volunteer, at minimum, one meeting per month. No experience is necessary as adults will learn with the kids. Adult responsibilities include helping with student questions and keeping students on task.

The registration process is as follows:

  1. Submit one online application for EACH student you wish to register.
  2. Receive Club Placement Confirmation or Waitlist Notification, by September 12.

    a. Club Placement Confirmation

Upon confirmation, submit the $120 non-refundable registration fee, due September 19. Detailed instructions will be provided in your confirmation email.b. Waitlist Notification

If club spots fill to capacity, you will receive waitlist notification. Spaces may become available if families do not complete the registration process or cancel their team placement prior to September 19.

Meeting information and Goals
Our first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 6, 2:57-4:15pm.
We have 10 meetings planned for this fall and 10 meetings planned for spring.
Our goal this 2016-2017 year is to help students gain familiarity and confidence using the Lego Mindstorms EV3 kits and prepare students who are interested in participating in the robotics tournament in 2017-2018. We will not participate at tournament this school year, as First Robotics Competition is open to students age 9 and older.

We hold all students and families to the highest code of conduct. Both students and parents must sign a commitment contract, agreeing to work cooperatively, follow directions and respect authority. We see membership as a privilege, those who are unable or unwilling to cooperate may be asked to leave.

Adult volunteers can be grandparents, neighbors, college students, babysitters, nannies, aunts and uncles, etc. Any adult willing to learn games and participate is welcome at team practices.

Scholarships for club fees are available. For information contact Mrs.
